Colors reversed

Computer club member's Windows XP SP3. All colors on the monitor are
reversed.

White is black, black is white. All colors on the desktop are compliments.

He states that his spouse, with severe dementia, was at the computer when it
happened. System restore has been turned off, so I couldn't use that to
correct the problem.

I am at a loss to help. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If a add-in video card is installed, remove card, try cleaning tabs on card
with
#2 pencil eraser. If on-board display is present & all updates are installed,
go to run, type:DXDIAG Run the Direct X tests.

Go to Accessibility Options and turn off absolutely everything. If that
doesn't help, go to Display Properties and set it to XP Theme.

Please ignore Andrew E.'s suggestion about the video card. This is not a
hardware issue.

Turn on System Restore, too. It will come in handy in the future for this
club member's household.

Correct,
Looks like it's set to high contrast ===> black on white

Should only take a few seconds to reverse the "damage".

I agree, System Restore should be turned back on...
and to save disk space, it can be set down to 2 or 3 %

After an hour this morning, it dawned on me that the problem wasn't apparent
until ZoomText was activated. ZoomText had color settings that had been
changed.

At least he now has some new drivers. System Restore is now monitoring...

Thanks for all of your suggestions.
