Color/Screen Resolution

This question has yet to be answered in this community.
Question: When I restart/turn off computer color resolution switches to
8bits,
why is this happening?
Question: When I click on the MaAfee Icon (taskbar or desktop icon), the
screen
goes blank for about 10 seconds and reappears, why is this
happening?
 
Have you checked the BIOS for any video setting that could cause this
problem?
Also you probably have been asked to update the video driver so I assume you
have done so.
