color scheme changed

When I turned off my WinXP laptop today, the color scheme was my normal
one--gray taskbar, black desktop background. When I turned on the laptop at
an internet cafe, before logging in, my color scheme had reverted to blue
for the taskbar. I went into Display Properties and changed it back, at
which point I also had to reset my desktop background, which had gone gray.

Any idea of what might have happened to cause the change? I've had to use an
internet cafe the last few days for my email, after moving and having the
timing of the phone/internet hookup screwed up. I'm hoping this isn't a
virus...

Thank you!

You could try this registry fix. Line 30 and instructions are on top of
