Color scheme help

Natascha

A couple months ago the color scheme in Word changed, out of the blue. When
I opened it, it no longer had the default appearance. Instead it has been
replaced with mostly white around all the buttons, and a blue/gray title bar.
I have checked all the settings that I can locate and nothing seems to be
amiss. If I go into options and use the drop down menu to select one of the
3 available color schemes, no changes take place.

Today I decided to pull out my disc and try to 'repair'. It did it's repair
business, however, still the same thing, white color scheme with a blue/gray
title bar.

Anyone have any ideas on how to get back to the default?

Thanks,
Natascha

I'm running XP on the affected machine. I'm pretty familiar with how to
change the Windows appearance and will do so from time to time. However, the
change in Word did not coincide with any such change.

Baffling

Most likely you have "High Contrast" enabled in Windows' Accessibility
Options.

Well, that being a possibility, I checked it out. My box is not checked for
"High Contrast" in Windows accessibility.

Is this Word 2007? If so check the display colour scheme in Word Options >
Popular. The default is blue, but silver would be something like that
described.

Changing the Windows Appearancew settings can trigger odd effects on the
Ribbon. Try resetting your Windows appearance to a built-in theme, and if
that cures the problem, re-apply your appearance settings and see if it all
works.

I have tried this. In my original post I mentioned that choosing silver,
blue, or black do nothing to change the display setting I have at the moment.

I am running the 2007 version indeed.
