I believe this may be a simple ? but I can't figure it
out. I was to remove the color behind the words (ex:name
of a folder) underneath the icon. I have a picture on my
desktop and I just the names of the folders, programs, etc
to show the picture - not a block of color with words on
top of it. Can someone explain to me how to do this?

Thanks

Miranda,

Right click on your My Computer icon, select Properties, the Advanced tab
and click on Settings in the Performance area. Scroll down to the bottom
under the Visual Effects tab and place a check mark in the second to last
box labeled "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop". Ok your way
back out and you should be set.

I did this and hit apply and it still is not taking away
the blocks of color underneath the type.

Miranda,

Do you have your desktop locked? That would prevent this from working. You
can check this by right clicking on an open area of your desktop, selecting
Properties, selecting the Desktop tab, then click the Customize Desktop
button, click the Web tab and see if the Lock desktop items box has a check
in it. If so, uncheck it and then try checking the drop shadows box again.

I hope this is it because I don't have any other ideas as to why it wouldn't
work.

Good luck,

Mike
