Color Display Problems

Due to unavoidable circumstances, I had to re-install Win2K Pro in my
m/c. The installation went off smoothly but the default colors are not
the same as what it had been.

I opened up *Display* (by navigating to Start-->Control Panel & then
double-clicking *Display*) & clicked the *Settings* tab. When I
clicked the *Colors* dropdown menu, only one option was listed - *16
colors* but prior to re-installing Win2K Pro, there were, if my memory
serves me right, 3 options.

Why are the other options missing from the *Colors* dropdown menu? How
do I add those options so that Win2K produces the correct colors?

Thanks.

Why are the other options missing from the *Colors* dropdown menu?

The video card drivers are just basic video drivers not the specific drivers
made for your card that provides all the extra functionality.

How
do I add those options so that Win2K produces the correct colors?

Upgrade your video drivers to the latest drivers provided by your video card
manufacturer.
Look in device manager to see if it tells what make and model video card you
have, go to the manufacturer's website and download and install the latest
drivers for your video card that work with your operating system.

If your computer came with some disks, look through them. Maybe try updating
the driver to the card and when it asks for where to get the drivers from,
put in a disk and see if it finds the drivers.
Or
Go to the site of the manufacturer of your computer and see if they list
what video card they sell with that model. See if they have updated drivers.

Why? Because you failed to install mobo chipset and other hw drivers from
manu sites, or supplied cd's.
NB Do NOT use winupdate for drivers
