Code 41 - CD ROM no longer working

I have gotten a code 41 for my Sony DVD RW DW G120A CDROM. This just
happened two days ago when everything was working fine with it.

I have tried going into the register and deleting the values, then
uninstalling the device and then using the feature to look for new hardware.
I still get the following:

Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot
find the hardware device. (Code 41)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.

Now I did load in the new updates a few days ago for Windows.

Please someone help!

Thanks - Valerie

This may help :-

Combination CDRW/DVD Player (HL-DT-RW/DVD GCC 4481B) Does not show up
in "MyComputer" and shows "Windows Successfully loaded the device
drivers but can't find the device" In Control Panel\System\ Hardware\
Device Manager\ CD-DVD Drives.
Go to Start>Run type: regedit click Ok Navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
click on and look in righthand panel for Upper and Lower Filters.
Delete both or
either one if there. Restart.

Goto http://aumha.org/win5/a/xpcd.php#problems
See the second "problem" (read the caveats)
Run the provided registry patch

That should fix your problem (basically, a filter driver is missing or
non-operational, the registry patch will delete the filter drivers
references for your cdrom(s))

Basically, the reg file from above carries out the steps displayed at this

(It'll fix code 41 errors too as per the contents of the last kb article)
