i currently have three computers on a wirless network which is working fine.
I have just purchased a d-link media player and am having trouble connecting
it to the wireless network, apparently because idont have static ip
addresses. i want to be able to conect to the media player by wired ethernet,
isit possible to have both forms so that they work independantly from each
other

How are you setup? What kind of Wireless Access Point are you using?

Example:

Wireless( 802.11 )
Ethernet ( 802.3 )
[Wireless client]>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>{WAP}----------------------------[Switch]

|

other wired devices

This shows the WAP acting as a network bridge. It allows the wired network
to communicate with the wireless.

Most WAPs use this type of setup ( only one port for wired ), or have built
in multiple ports that allow the user to connect a wired device directly
into the WAP and eliminating the need for the switch / hub.

The answer to the question is yes.

However I find it hard to believe that you cannot connect the device
directly to the wireless because you don't have a static IP. What exactly
are the symptoms you are seeing?
