Cannot detect Wireless Network

We have just set up a wirelss home network.

And eventually got a Desktop (wired) and old laptop (wirless) working ok

However we have also just got a new laptop with a built in 802.11g MiniPci
Wireless Network Adapter and this laptop will not detect a wireless network
!!!

I have tried setting everything up as i did with the rest but for some
reason the new laptop will not see the network never mind connect to it.

windows also says the device is working properly.

Could this be a hardware fault???

Oh all three computers have windows XP

Make sure that the wireless network connection is enabled in Control
Panel > Network Connections.

Some laptops have a switch that lets you turn off the wireless
networking hardware to save power when it's not in use.

yes the device is enabled.

and there is a switch for the hardware which is switched on

when i go to the select Wireless Network Connection, i just get the message
'No wireless networks were found in range' and stays the same even when
refreshed
( in know the new laptop is well within range, iv'e tested it with the old
one)

Does this Wireless Option have a software to manage and configure it or you
having WZC to handle this for you?.
Try this: Open a run command and type in : services.msc click [OK].
There scroll down to;
Windows Wireless Zero Configuration if it is ON Turn OFF and Vice versa and
close the Services window and reboot your machine.
Also you can Right click the Wireless Network in the control Panel >>
Network connection >> Wireless connection and select Properties, then select
let windows configure this wireless if the services Turned ON Automatically.
P.S What the Make of the Laptop? and odes fully batched.
HTH.
Let us know.
