I've just gone through this aggravation. Neill is quite right that it could be the battery, what I did with mine was to disconnect the cpu, remove the battery and jump the cmos on the motherboard to clear it, somewhere on your motherboard you'll see three or four pins with a jumper connector and cmos or ccmos written by the side of them (you may have to use a magnifying glass if you haven't got the manual.) Move the jumper over for a minute or more and then back again, replace the battery and boot up, you should see the cmos checksum error message no more.
