CMOS Checksum bad

Ok so i admit ive done something very wrong here. Hopefully someone
can shed some light on what to do next.

I used the AFUWIN utility to flash my bios to the latest version from
my motherboard website (ECS)

All appeared to go well until i restarted my computer. I am now
presented with the following error on boot

CMOS Checksum bad
CMOS date/time not set

I then proceeded to correct the date and time and save the changes,
then when the bios utility closes, the screen goes blank and nothing
happens.

So then powered off the PC, moved the CMOS jumper to clear for 30
seconds and switched back on only to be presented with the same
problem.

My Motherboard is ECS P4M890T-M
Processor P4 2.66D

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Nothing is wrong. You need to set your date/time, check all other settings
while in there (for example, is it set to use a floppy drive that isn't
installed?, etc., SAVE SETTINGS and exit.

If the settings don't survive the computer being powered off, then it's
possible that your CMOS battery (CR2032) needs to be replaced. But the
messages you are seeing are typical, for when you flash your BIOS to a new
version. They will persist until the new settings are input AND
AVED. -Dave

It sounds like your BIOS is permanently corrupted. Sorry to say, but time
for a new motherboard.

But if I figure it out I`ll let you know, and if you figure it out, e-
