Bad Motherboard? (ECS L7S7A2)

Reepicheep

my ECS L7S7A2 motherboard has served me well for three short weeks.
it then began to give me CMOS errors such as:
Invalid Memory Size
Checksum Error (most common)
Low Battery (only after resetting the clear cmos jumper).
i went to radio shack and replaced the old battery with a new one of the
same model (CR2032), but it did not fix ANY of the errors.

once in a blue moon i won't get a CMOS error, i will actually be able to
boot up into XP, however it will then crash at a random interval and give me
another CMOS error.
when i try to boot into windows, it will also HANG on the startup screen
(before the welcome screen), right after the keyboard flashes the progress
bar stutters and stops cold.

Any help would be appreciated.

If there is no obvious sign of damage to your motherboard,
discolouring or odours etc and all the connections are correct and
good, look toward the memory stick\s.

Even if the POST indicates that the memory checks out OK you may find
that the same stick subjected to MemTest86 or similar will reveal
errors. You can download this program free at

http://www.memtest86.com

the latest version to run on floppy disc is fine, clicking on the
downloaded exe file will call for a formatted floppy disc and install
the program automatically. NB you will NOT be able to read the disc in
Windows Explorer\My Computer as it will appear to be blank, this is
normal.

Put the prepared disc into the floppy drive, make sure your BIOS is
set to boot from the Floppy Drive first [or second if the first is CD
Drive] then reboot. The test runs automatically.

Hope this helps, best regards,
