Trying to execute new firmware for a printer. The instructions say to make a
temporary folder (0255s)on my hard drive. Unzip the files into this folder.
Then later on, (after directions to do with ports) I am asked to "Go
to a DOS prompt and change to the "0255s" folder, type the following command
....pup(enter). The person who provides support does not have a very good
command of the English language and I am at a loss how to carry out these
instructions! How do I use the cmd prompt (WinXP Pro) to achieve what I am
supposed to do.
Thanks (from a non DOS user).

I can get into the cmd prompt ok (and open a dos screen) - what I seem to
need to do is use that prompt to get to the 0255s folder. That I cannot do -
how do I do it?

Have you tried Start>Run and type in without the quotes "cmd", and so on?

Can you please post here the details of what you have to do? Or some link related?

In a DOS Window type:
cd\0255s

Then press Enter

That should put you in that directory folder. What did he say to do after
that?

All the best,

I am asked to "Go to a DOS prompt and change to the "0255s" folder, type the
following
command...pup(enter). What I need to know is the command/string I need to
get to the folder, so that I may run the pup command.
Thanks

Try to locate the folder in XP, using Start>Search for and the use at the prompt "cd [folder name]" one-by-one until you find "0255s" folder.
