CMD.EXE is using black text on black background (so I cannot read what it
says or what I type).
This only happens when cmd.exe Display Option is set to FULL SCREEN.
This does not happen when cmd.exe Display option is set to Window.
Now that I have discovered this problem I would like to fix it.
I can reproduce the problem by doing this:
- Start > Run > c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe
- Alt+spacebar to display CMD.EXE menu
- choose Properities
- change Display Option from Window (default) to Full Screen
- verify that ALL other settings on ALL tabs are set to default settings
especially I verify contrasting text color (gray) and background color
(black)
because the problem is that it displays text color (black) and background
color (black)
regardless of what colors are selected here, as explained below.
- click OK button
- when prompted, choose the option to apply the changes to the current
window only
since I am just testing at this point
- RESULTS: the problem cmd.exe window displays black text on black
background so screen appears to be blank
but it is not, you can tell this just by where the blinking cursor is.
- I type EXIT (which I cannot see because it is black on black), then I
press ENTER key and I am returned to windows
I did a file compare of c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe with another computer
reported "no differences"
What do I need to do to get Full Screen (cmd.exe display option) to use the
same
text and background colors as Window (cmd.exe display option)?
Please, all ideas, suggestions, thoughts welcome.
Thank you,
