Closing folder opens blank internet explorer page

Every time I close a folder in Windows Explorer a blank Internet Explorer
page opens up. I have run spyware programs to no avail. Very annoying. Can
anyone help?
 
I have a client that is having this same problem using Internet Explorer 7.
Oddly enough, the problem does not occur when you open the folder by
right-clicking it and then click Explore in the context menu (rather than
double-clicking the folder in question). I suspect an issue in the Windows
registry but haven't located it yet.
 
I found that uninstalling the AOL Toolbar and the Yahoo Toolbar on my
customer's system appears to have eliminated this problem. You might check
to see if either or both of these toolbars are installed on your system. If
so, try uninstalling them (through Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel).
