close without save

Is there a way to open a document, input some changes, print, etc. but not be
presented with a prompt to save when closing? The scenario is that I have
a document which is sitting in a network share and is read-only for the
users. They need to open the document and add data, print, etc. however they
are not to be saving this document (or any variations of it). I thought I
had a solution where they would input data and upon printing the document it
would automatically close (word and the document) without saving however I am
now told that they would rather have the document not close after printing so
that they can modify what they've type in (with out having to open and retype
all info again) and print that data. if I don't make the
document/application auto close after printing, they can do as they please
however they are then prompted to save changes and since the original
document is read-only some are ending up with various versions scattered all
over the place. I need to have the document/Word not prompt for save
despite any changes made to the document.

Any suggestions would be great.

You could make the original a template: the users will still be prompted to
save, but under a new name. Has the advantage that the user *can* save if
they want to.

Apart from that, you'll need to use macros, which for this purpose would be
messy.
