I'm going to be assembling 7-9 systems, that will have an ton of
installed apps.

I'd like to set up one drive with everything done, then clone each to
the next machine.

Each machine with have it's own legit copy of XP but I don't want to
have to re-install everything.

Is there a way of cloning the drive THEN changing the XP reg number
and activating it?

Read through them and tried it, but I see no way - after rebotting the
image as to how to enter new a serial number and when do I activate?
I'd assume before the image is created.
