Clone bootable image from laptop to PC

I will soon have a new Toshiba Portege M200 tablet PC. Yippee! It
will not have any drives, internal or external, except it's hard drive
with WinXP Tablet OS. I now have Ghost 2002 software, a PC running
Win2K Pro with both FAT32 and NTFS partitions available, a cable
modem, and will soon have a router (D-Link 624?).

What are my options for cloning a bootable image from laptop to PC and
back again? I want not only to preserve the initial clean system, but
to make regular bootable backups.

I did some reading about Ghost on the Symantec site, and the
documentation made my head ache ;-| Is the sensible way to go to try
to use Ghost 2002 over the network (through the router)? Should I do
the crossover cable thing instead? Doesn't running Ghost on both
machines mean running Windoze on both meaning I can't make a bootable
image because the OS of the source disk is running? Should I buy
other software?

You are not going thru the router part but you are using the built-in
network hub/switch. The router is only used to translate the internal
network addresses (all your PCs) whenever there is a request to access the
Internet.


Also, Ghost 2003 or 2004 is much better than 2002.
