For what reasons might the clock in windows XP not be
able to keep time?

How would I be able to fix this problem?

Thanks in advance
Jerry

The first thing you need to be aware of is whether the clock
loses time while the computer is shut off, or while Windows is
running.

If it's while powered off, it's very likely the battery. Replace
it (but first, copy down your BIOS settings, which you are likely
to lose while the battery is out).

If it's while running, it can *not* be the battery. Try this: Go
to Start | Run and type CMD Then enter the following commands:

net stop w32time

w32tm /unregister

w32tm /register

net start w32timep
