My Windows clock is always exactly 3 hours behind, and I am not sure
if it's due to a power setting when my computer hibernates, or some
other problem. I know I can set the computer clock through the
internet, but is there an explanation/solution so that the clock stays
accurate?

Can anyone advise?
Thanks,
Daniel

Make sure your clock is set to the proper time zone. Right click time at
bottom right screen > Adjust Date/Time > Time Zone tab.

Are you sure you have your Time Zone set correctly? On the Date and Time
Properties window, it's the center tab. Click it and make sure the box
above the map has the correct time zone for your location. If it doesn't,
open the drop-down list and choose the correct time zone then click OK.

Hi Daniel,

Is the clock in the system BIOS set correctly? If not, then every time you
boot, WinXP will pick up the wrong time to start with.

You might also check in the control panel/date and time that you are in the
correct time zone. Your current post shows you to be on the west coast of
North America - is this correct?

Last but not least, check that your cmos battery is not run down. A dying cmos
battery causes the mobo and windows to lose time, so you may need to replace it.
Something to keep in mind.......

Before anyone whose clock is running slow rushes out to buy a new
battery, he should first take note of whether he is losing time
while the computer is running or while it's powered off. If it's
while powered off, the problem *is* very likely the battery. But
if it's while running, it can *not* be the battery.

Also its always being *exactly* three hours behind pretty much
rules out the battery.

If one is exactly 3 hours behind, I would check to timezone.

If danfromqueensu is dan from queens, then I don't think the time zone
should be west coast.

"Queensu" = Queen's University, Ontario, Canada. And doesn't he sound like a
nice, civilized Canadian? Since he is "appearing' to be on Pacific Standard
Time, this would account for the 3-hour time difference.

My thoughts exactly, that's why I pointed out what time zone he was showing
himself to be in.
