ClipMate free alternative?

I used to have a little nice prg. called ClipMate.
Used it for about 6-7 years. The program did just one thing - stored
"ctrl-C's". Then, when I should use an "old" ctrl-c" clip, I just
scrolled down the list, found it and "ctrl-V'd" the info...

I lost the program and the code, and now I wonder if there is an
alternativ (freeware)?

I've been using ArsClip for a long time and really like it.

I've used Ditto for a while and like the way it works. Open source -
find it at Sourceforge I think

There are many clipboard extenders and everyone has his own favourite.
Mine is ClCl. It's very versatile, yet extremely small.

There is no Help and documentation though so you have to figure things
out yourself. It would be nice if someone would compile some
documentation and a FAQ.

Try the last free version of ClipCache, CLIPC141.ZIP. One Web location -
http://www.woundedmoon.org/
click on the section for "last free version of programs that later went
shareware."

I liked ClipCache enough to register, but have never bothered to install
the registered version as the free one is so good.

BTW, you could simply use KeyNote if you have it installed anyway.

I looked in the index of KeyNote's Help file. There was a page titled
"Clipboard Capture," but it was blank. What is the procedure for
storing captured clips here?

NoteTab has a clipboard capture facility. Go to Documents > Use as
Pasteboard.

"Clipboard Capture command
Paste everything copied to the Windows clipboard into the current
note. This includes both text and images. KeyNote highlights the tab
for the capturing note.

For a simple note, each time you copy something to the clipboard, it
is pasted into the note on a separate line.

For a tree-type note, each time you copy something to the clipboard,
it is pasted into a new node in the note.

You can modify this function with Tools/Configuration Options,
Clipboard capture functions. For example, you can capture to a single
node in a tree-type note, instead of to separate nodes.

Tip: This command stays active until you choose the command again to
turn it off. The target note for clipboard capture must be the active
not to turn capturing off."

That's what Help says. However, it does not work here. No automatic
copying form the clipboard into KeyNote, no matter what I try.

BTW, I wonder if there will ever be a new version of KeyNote.

I have quite a lot of files saved in Windows
Clipboard utility with .CLP extensions.
Files are associated with c:\windows\Clipbrd.exe.
Whenever I d-click the .CLP extension file, it
opens the Clipbrd.exe BLANK.
the contents of .clp file are not shown.

Is there a way around to open directly these files in clipboard viewer?

However i can open the file manually by going
to File > Open menu commands.
Any help to open these files d-click would be appreciated. Thanks.
