Clipboard????????

Nev.

Exactly what is Clipboard called in XP Pro?
I know its name is now abbreviated.
And where exactly is it?

I want to be able to create a shortcut to it on my desktop,
so that I can click on its icon on the desktop to open it.

Furthermore, the method I used in all previous versions of
Windows to drag and drop the Icon onto the Desktop to
create the shortcut to open the program no longer seems
to work. Therefore, where exactly can I find the icon that
I can drag and drop (?) to the desktop to create the
shortcut there.

In fact I haven't been able to create any shortcuts on my
my Desktop to any Win XP item; however, I was able to
create a shortcut to Nortons with its icon on my Desktop.

TIA,

Nev.

Perform the following:

1. Right-click on your Desktop and select: NEW > SHORTCUT
2. In the Create Shortcut window, type in: CLIPBRD.EXE , and click "Next"
3. In the next window, type in: ClipBook Viewer , and click "Finish"
4. A ClipBook Viewer shortcut icon will appear on your Desktop.

Thanks to Carey and Jax for your kind help.
I appreciate the courtesy and knowledge on news groups.
I have my shortcut for the Clipboard on my Desktop now.

I am not a guru or nerd, nor do I want to be, but I use XP Pro
because I think it has a couple of advantages for what I want to do.

It puzzles me why MS should want to convolute the formerly
simple process of adding a shortcut to the Desktop. I think
the KISS principle is still a very valuable aid to Quality Control.

Thanks,

Nev.

Glad to have been able to help.

Coincidentally, I just did a re-format and am in the process of customizing
my start menu. You reminded me that something was missing, thank you!

Creating shortcuts hasn't changed. 98 and XP create shortcuts in the same ways (note plural).

Hi David,

Remember, ClipBoard doesn't install by default on XP.

JAX;
Yeah, but other worthless junk does. i.e. COM+ and about 7/8 of the
Services.

JAX;
I'm learning how to speak MS. I recently did a repair install. What that
means is, nothing gets repaired, but everything you did away with gets
re-installed.)
