Clipboard / Clipbook question

How does one copy something that is on the clipboard in XP? There is text
present , but I cannot find any way to copy it so I can paste it somewhere
else. I cannot highlight and the copy command under edit is grayed out, just
like everything else except delete. Even the toolbar that I guess contains
copy, paste, etc. commands is grayed out.

Thanks for your help.

In the application where you want to paste, just right click on the
insertion point and select paste from the drop down menu..

Thanks, Mike, for the response. But, I am trying to figure out why the areas
on the Clipboard are grayed out when they should be functional. I mean, what
if I only want to copy just a portion of something that is on the clipboard,
not the whole paragraph, for example.

Shouldn't the paste, copy, etc. commands be available once something is on
the clipboard? That is really the question: Why are these grayed out when
there is something on the clipboard? From what I've read, these should be
functional once there is something on the clipboard.

Thanks.

Answered in another newsgroup. Please do not send the same message
separately to more than one newsgroup (called multiposting). Doing so just
fragments the thread, so someone who answers in one newsgroup doesn't get to
see answers from others in another newsgroup. And for those who read all the
newsgroups the message is multiposted to, they see the message multiple
times instead of once (they would see it only once if you correctly
crossposted instead).

If you must send the same message to more than one newsgroup, please do so
by crossposting (but only to a *few* related newsgroups).

Please see "What is the accepted way to share a message across multiple
newsgroups?" at http://smjg.port5.com/faqs/usenet/xpost.html
