Clip split in Timeline won't move to collection

I am performing the clip split in timeline : "A"
becomes "B" & "C". I want to now use new clip B and C
seperately. If I try to drag/cut&paste the "b" clip to
Collections/content it won't let me. Conversly, if I
perform the split in the collection/content it will
become two clips:b,c. So whats my problem? Its easier
to perform the split in timeline...where does the program
put the clips created ???? ...I want to split my captured
footage into two seperate movies.

Thanks
CAT
PS
I imported as one big 40min clip as there doesn't seem to
be any way to adjust clips from automatic to say 1 , 5
10 minutes etc.

All information in the timeline goes into the project file for the specific
movie. The clips and collection bin info goes into the collection database,
a single file for each user.

You can save your project as two different project files and discard clips
in each. Or you can copy/paste clips from one project timeline into another
(copy > close the project > open the other project > paste).

Right - either get the whole thing as one big clip and split it manually -
or let the auto clip generation do it.
