CLIP ART not displayed in OUTLOOK

When I open "Insert" menu in Outlook 2003 and select "picture" there is no
option for "clip art". I have to browse to the clip art folder and select
picture. The organizer does not open. How can I add it to my mail program

So is this really an Outlook question? Or a question regarding Word
(because that is what you use as the e-mail editor called by Outlook
rather than Outlook's own editor)? I don't have OL2003 but don't recall
when I used it that Clipart was integral to Outlook's embedded editor.
My guess is that you are using Word as the e-mail editor called by
Outlook. If you are using Word then the problem is with Word, so ask in
a Word newsgroup.

The Outlook editor does not support ClipArt. The Word editor does. Check your editor settings in Tools | Options | Mail Format

I'll take your word on that. I haven't used RTF in years, maybe not in
a decade or more. RTF should only be used between senders and
recipients within the same Exchange organization (even Microsoft used to
have an article that recommended that but they yanked it). Most e-mails
should be sent as plain text. Only if formatting is mandatory should
HTML then be used. RTF is a Microsoft proprietary format that other
e-mail programs won't understand, so it should just be used for internal
mails.

Must be version specific. The menu navigation you described (after I
changed to composing in RTF format) doesn't exist in OL2002. That is,
after selecting RTF format, there is no Insert -> Picture menu in
OL2002. The only way that I could get an Insert -> Picture menu was to
also select Word as Outlook's e-mail editor - but I already mentioned
that in my other post. Since it is *WORD's* menu that is in question
then the question needs to be submitted to a Word newsgroup.

Unless OL2003 added more RTF functionality to its own menus, the problem
is in Word, not in Outlook. Since I don't have OL2003 to check, it's
possible. I just think it's probable.

Questions like this are fine in this group. We can't expect users to
differentiate to the degree you expect and this is certainly a feature
available in Outlook. If we ever get stuck on a feature from Word that
Outlook uses for email then a referral is sometimes used.

loaded to handle newsgroups? Is this group to handle all requests
regarding Word because users can't figure out that they configured
Outlook to use Word as the e-mail editor? Isn't it better to ask in a
group that is more focused on the topic in question? The problem wasn't
in Outlook. The problem was in Word. This newsgroup, as per its title,
addresses Outlook.

30years, to whom I replied, did not see or did not bother to read Sue's
reply noting that the problem was in Word and not in Outlook. So when
30years said that the feature was in Outlook, I looked, didn't find, and
asked if it was something added to version 2003 (but apparently it is
not there, either). Sue told the OP that the problem was in Word.
30years said it was in Outlook, but it isn't so the OP would get
confused with the contradictory information.

I am not using Word as the editor. I did try switching to the Word editor to see if it made a difference but it did not. I am using HTML formatting.

Thank you, this at least got the menu to open, but I did not end up with a small clip art picture in the corner of my Outlook message, but a huge picture in a Word document. I had it open correctly on another computer. When I get a chance, I will check the settings on the other computer. They are both running Office 2003 basic. Thank you for your imput.

I am using OFFICE BASIC 2003 and using the default editor. I am NOT using WORD. I do know the difference between OUTLOOK and OUTLOOK EXPRESS. The answer to my question is getting lost in the shuffle. OUTLOOK on another computer open the MICROSOFT CLIP ORGANIZER and I would like to be able to do the same on my computer. I do appreciate everyone's efforts to help though. Thank you for taking the time to reply.

Yet it seems clear that no one else is finding the ClipArt submenu in
Outlook when *not* having calling Word as the e-mail editor. It is not
a feature of Outlook so you aren't going to find it there. So your
solution: configure Outlook to call Word to do the e-mail editing, then
within Word you can get the ClipArt submenu.

Since the ClipArt function is a Word function, you should ask over in a
Word group on how to get Word to work correctly. It may be suggested
that your email.dot template is corrupted (that Word uses when called by
Outlook to display the e-mail compose window); see
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903218/en-us. I don't know if Word 2003
still uses the email.dot file - but the Word group should know.

Hi,

You've probably got your answer by now, but I was having the same problem,
and kind of found the answer myself by looking through these posts. I have
Outlook 2002, but hopefully the basics are the same. Try this:

Tools -> Options -> Mail Format, and check/tick the box that says 'Use
Microsoft Word to edit email messages.'

Don't change to Rich Text, leave on HTML, and when you go into a new
message, you should now get the 'insert clip art' option. I was looking for
Backgrounds and Themes, and these both appeared once I did the above too, so
now my emails are much prettier!!

Well finally, an answer that works! And it works in Outlook 2003 which I use
and in which I was experiencing the same problem. And, "Oh my!!" it's
corrected by tweeking the options in..., yes OUTLOOK. bla7877's post should
be at the top to avoid reading all the others before getting the correct
answer.
