Client for Microsoft Networking - Client component

I know this is really stupid .. but I clicked on installing the client
component in an attempt to solve network problems that are ongoing (without
really understanding what it would do!) ... and now am locked out of the pc.

I have the Windows logon screen that is prompting me for my user name and
password .. and I'm keying in what I thought it was, but it keeps rejecting
it.

Do you know of what I can do please? Is there a way of bypassing this?
