Clicking on addressbook field closes Winfax

Frankly, I don't know where I should post this as I'm out of
ideas as to what is causing the problem.

This is a Compaq machine which came with XP Home preinstalled.
We installed both Winfax Pro 10.02 (compatible with XP) and
PC Anywhere 10.5 (also XP compatible). The machine has been
working trouble-free for many months.

One day I got a call saying that they could no longer edit entries in the
Winfax addressbook. I went to have a look and found that I could
open an entry in the address book for editing just fine. But if I clicked
on the telephone number field, the Winfax program just closed. So
I reopened it and tried tabbing to the telephone number field instead
of clicking on it, but it closed this way too.

The interesting thing is that if I get into the machine remotely over
PC Anywhere, everything works fine!

The customer says nothing new has been installed, which I believe.
However, there may have been some updates installed via Windows
Update or Symantec's Live Update. So far, I've come up empty
scouring the KB's at Microsoft and Symantec.

I've tried updating the video drivers, checking for a virus, malware, and
spyware but everything scans clean. I've also tried uninstalling and
reinstalling Winfax.

Does anyone have any suggestions? This has me stumped!

Thanks.

I have this identical problem too.

I can't find any solution in either Microsoft or Symantec knowledge
base.

I believe it's one of the MS updates that's causing the problem. I am
in the process of uninstalling the updates one at a time to identify
the culprit. But it's too tedous.

I have identified the cause of this perculiar problem - installation
of East Asian Languages.

In the Control Panel/Regional Language Options, deselect the "Install
files for East Asian languages" solves the problem with WinFax Pro
address book problem.

So is the WinXp or the WinFax Pro that's broken?

I have just started to see the same thing after using Winfax for over 1
year with no major problems. I do not have Asian Languages installed.
Is anyone else having the same problem?
