Sometime, when I post any question on this forum, and receive reply, once I
click the received link, then it will automatically link to the posted
questions, which is very nice feature. However, clicking the received links
are not already automatically link to the posted questions, sometime, it
simply goes to the first page of this group instead.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to click the received link, then it
must automatically link toe the posted one?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions
Eric

I rarely use a web browser to access these groups, so I don't have a clue
about the web features.

Typically what has happened is that the poster has copied the URL from
the Address bar instead of doing Alt-L,Enter. E.g. the difference would be
the URL for the frameset for the Search page versus the frame containing
the particular message that the user wanted you to see.

Did the user give you any clues about the search used to produce the
(intended) hit? If so, redo the search. If the post was old enough and
if the hit was not marked for retention it may already be dropped from the
archive. In that case having the search keywords and any other clues
such as the date range of the archive at the time may be invaluable
because you will have to reproduce the search on Google Groups
using its more complete archive.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions
Eric
