Clearing Address Bar

Can anyone tell me how to clear the stored data on
visited websites that appear in the address bar? I've
already tried clearing cookies, clearing history, etc.
That doesn't seem to remove the sites from the address
bar. So, for example, when I type the letter "a" in the
address bar, the bar expands to show every website
visited that begins with the letter "a" - and similarly
with all other sites. Is there a way to prevent this
storage of visited websites?
