Cleared Admin password

Hi,

I just set up security on my database, and accidentally cleared the password
for the Admin account, and now cannot log into the database.

Any suggestions as to how to get around this?

Thanks.

Open the database using the correct 'secure' mdw (don't use system.mdw) -
create a desktop shortcut if you need to, to ensure you're using the correct
mdw.

Go to Tools, Security, Accounts and click on the Change Password tab - set a
password for the user (which will be Admin).

Hi Joan,

Have noticed a lot of your replied to posts, so I am glad you're plugged
into this one.

The shortcut I had been using, and am using is:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\MSACCESS.EXE"
"C:\AAAUploads\VT_JUDICIARY\GAL\WORKING_DB\GAL Database.mdb" /WRKGRP
"C:\AAAUploads\VT_JUDICIARY\GAL\WORKING_DB\Security.mdw"

This did not change. I only (and in error) cleared the Admin password from
this workgroup.

I am joined to the default security group: C:\Documents and
Settings\dfg\Application Data\Microsoft\Access\System.mdw

The error message I get when I try to open the database using the shortcut
listed above is:

"You do not have the necessary permissions to use ... object. Have your
system administrator or the person who created this object establish the
appropriate permissions for you.

Thanks in advance.

Joan,

After I got the message indicating it cannot open the database, I then went
to TOOLS, SECURITY, USER AND GROUP ACCOUNTS, set the password for Admin.

I then launched the shortcut again, and it prompted me with the Admin user
name. I changed the user name to Administrator, logged in with that, and
voila, I'm back in business.

Thanks for your help!
