Clear Type

Hi all,

When I set Clear Type to 'On', certain characters in Explorer (such as two
consecutive lowercase l's) show up in red color. Any way to fix this and
retain Clear Type?

Yikes, does he know that you just posted his email address to a public
forum? If not, you best add him to your Christmas card list and more!)

Thanks for the replies. I should've mentioned in my original post that I've
tried the Powertoys Clear Type fine-tuning tool (Control Panel applet) from
the MS website, but it doesn't help with this problem. Any other
suggestions?

Kelly,
Thanks. I've been there, and there's a lot of good info there about Clear
Type, but I didn't see anything that solved the problem.

Roy, it may just be your monitor/video card. I've had machines where
Clear type gave a faint pinkish tinge to the outside of some letters.
This may just be "one of those things". However, if the machine is new
and is a laptop, I'd contact the mftr. because it shouldn't do that
from the factory.

using the cleartype tuner or the powertoy, double check the RGB or BGR
setting; 99% of screens out there are RGB, but some oddballs are BGR.
That would account for your pink ghosting. [Red/Green/Blue vs.
Blue/Green/Red; w/ powertoy click the advanced tab rather than running
the wizzard.]

and it is an LCD display, right? If CRT then you may not be able to get
cleartype to look good to you. If it is a CRT make sure the convergence
is good before turning on cleartype; to set convergence get a good screen
test util, such as:

http://www.programming.de/

there is a testscreens util there.
