clear type tuning applet

recently built new computer with xp pro and used the clear type tuning applet
from the power toys download section. although i understand it is primarily
aimed at xp and lcd monitors, it works great with my crt also. i would really
love to have it at work where i have a 19" dell lcd, but have 2kpro sp4 and a
work with two applications that lock me into bigger than native resolutions.
native for the monitor involved is 1280 x 1024 and the highest i can go and
deal with the text involved is 1152 x 864. alot of times when activity on
those two applications is low i will switch to the other resolution just so
ebay looks right. anyway, i tried to install it in 2k pro and when you get to
the end of the installation where you request to launch it at completion of
the installation it never launches. nothing shows up in event viewer, it just
never happens. has anyone made this work in 2k pro on a network? or is it
just hopeless wishfull thinking? what i would like to do is resize to the
native resolution and then run it to get the text display right. the two apps
involved are an electronics parts catalog and an in house business management
application emulated within it. the management app text is ok, just not
perfect, and the catalog is so-so, some of the illustrations suffer in the
resizing process. in house it policy covers "supported apps" only, no support
for frills or beta apps, and it is somewhat important to maintain some
uniformity among the six stations involved.
if anyone has pulled this one off, please post back.

NT5.0 (aka W2K) does not and will not support Clear Type.
