Clear Type problem

I have a Dell Inspiron 2200 with XP Home.

In fooling around with the display, I set it on Clear Type. I generally like
this display much better. HOWEVER, sometimes a few of the letters have a
reddish outline. This occurs only in Outlook Express in the listing of my
newsgroups/folders and in the subject listings when in a newsgroup.

Is there some adjustment I can make to keep the clear type and eliminate the
problem?

Incidentally, this occurs on vertical letters or vertical parts of letters,
such as i, l, and the vertical part of D and p.

I did that already and it doesn't help. The only time I get the reddish
bleed is on the small lettering in OE
