Cleaning up a 300gb file server

Guest

I am faced with the overwelming task of trying to clean up one of my
companies file server. Brief history The data on this server is over 10
years old and no one really delets anything. I am looking for a program that
will help me make the migration as smooth as possible.
I will be asked to go dept by dept and reorganize the way they either view
or share their folders HELP! HELP! HELP!

Any advice would help. Thanks in advance.

use ROBOCOPY with the MINLAD option to MOVE files older than date x.

Hehehehehehe - i'll send ya some tee-shirts - been dere dun dat.

inter-office memo: NOTICE: All files over 90 days old will be moved to TAPE.
If you want to access these files, MOVE them onto the NEW server immediately!

Thanks, IT Support

that'll juice 'em up - and spin a few heads - make divisions on the new server
for each dept. and do the GROUPIE thing to keep Joe's dept outta Sam's dept,
etc - outside of that, you're screwed. 15 years taught some of us a lesson:
most users are slobs when it comes down to filing. I'm just saying what most
of us are thinking. they think it's the company's problem - just to pass the
buck. it's everyone's responsibility as users to try and keep things a bit
neater. opps, did I say that aloud? *G*

good luck
