a dry cloth works well don't use any solvents. there is usually a hole that
says do not cover best to push any dust dirt away from that rather than into
it. Other than that not much to cleaning a hard drive.
Oh do you mean reformat or delete all files?
Go to disk mfg web site they usually have utilities to do a destructive test
of the drive there are also utilities to wipe hard drives
