I want to clean up my hd from all the temp files and folders that winxp
makes is there a program that can do this?

Also all the files that are made by xp to restore to a previous point should
be removed.

Thanks for the help.

Hi,

You can use XP's built-in Disk Cleanup which you should find in Start
=> Programs. There is an option in 'More Options' => System Restore to
remove all but the last Restore Point.

If you want something with more options you can download and run the
freeware CCleaner, available here:

http://www.ccleaner.com/

also,

you can search for the
throughout your system by
using the a filename criterion of
*.tmp in your built-in explorer
search feature.

third party software like systemmechanic
offers a feature to remove trash on the disk
by using a multitude of filename extensions
other than temp to search for clutter...

Windows Cleanup comes with Windows XP.

Why? This is valuable protection for you. Why do you want to discard it? If
you are using the default amount of space used (12% of the drive), it might
make sense to reduce it, but don't delete all your restore points.

Use Disk Cleanup as suggested - also Start>Run>type "%temp%" - all temp
files will be listed.

Suggestion - do not "delete" all System Restore points.
If space is an issue reset usage by System Restore - sooner or later there
will be a need to restore.
