Clean up entries in "New" choices, context menu

R

riprap

When I right-click on a blank area of a directory Explorer window, and
choose "New", I get these choices:

* Folder
* Shortcut
* Bitmap Image
* Contact
* Microsoft Word Document
* Journal Document
* Microsoft Access Application
* Text Document
* Microsoft Excel Worksheet
* Compressed (zipped) Folder
* Briefcase

Does anyone know where to go in the registry in order to disable
about 3/4 of these?

Thanks for your time & attention to detail.

Hi,

They're not in one place. Each is the result of a shellnew subkey under the
associated file type in the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT branch. For instance, a new
text document is found under:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.txt

Remove the shellnew subkey under this level to remove it from the "New"
listings.

Hello, Rick::
Thanks for taking the time...your post was most helpful [:)
I did a search within HKCR for "ShellNew", and it looks like all the
info I'm going to need
to clean up that right-click menu is there in those search results.
Thanks again!
