Arrrrrrrgh! Context Menu Handlers !

G

Guest

When I right-click on the desktop and go to NEW, I get a whole passle
of choices. I'd like to eliminate most of them. I know they are
context menu handlers, and I've searched the registry, but haven't
found them.

This is what Right-Click | New gives me:

Briefcase
Bitmap
Deluxe Document
Microsoft Word
Family Tree File
Microsoft Binder
PageMaker
Photoshop
Presentations
Text
UGA Document
WordPerfect
Presentations Drawing
Microsoft Excel
Compressed (zip) folder

I'd like to see:
Text
Word
Compressed (zipped) folder

Can anybody help?

Ramesh has this subject covered thoroughly.

See the following websites for the information.

objects:

I had already covered his site, and gone through the registry, but I
could not find the entries. Thanks anyway.

Thank you! That was just perfect.

BWY, I've been to your site, and I don't see a tweak to put the
Control Panel icon on the quick launch (on the taskbar, to the right
of "start"). How would I do that?

Hi Kelly -- I found the Taskbar Tray Control executible on your site!
So I've fixed my buttons. :)

I can't get Microsoft Word to show up on the Right-Click Context Menu.

I tried the Powertoy Tweak UI JJS mentions in the link but that doesn't work.

The Powertoy lists Microsoft Word but when I click the box it still doesn't
show up on the New Right-click Context Menu.

Any help plz?

This problem has started since I tried to install OpenOffice and then
uninstalled it.

In SendTo?

How to Add Items to the "Send To" Menu in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=310270

Or in New | Microsoft Word Document?

C:\WINDOWS\ShellNew

Start | Run | Type: shellnew | Click OK
Place a copy of a Word.doc that you would like to use as a template for any
new Word Document in the folder. Remember that this what will be used every
time that you...

Right click point to New and select Microsoft Word Document.

Also see...
