CLEAN INSTALL XP HOME ON NEW BUILD PC

Keith

Help, I'm having a major headache trying to install XP
home on my new PC. Boot from CD works fine, I boot from
the hard drive to continue set-up and the insert the CD
and everything's fine for a few minutes. I usually get to
enter the region and user ID and sometimes also the
product key then get the following error message:

Error: SXS.DLL:Syntax error in manifest or policy
file "D:\I386\asms\10100\MSFT\WINDOWS\GDIPLUS\GDIPLUS.MAN"
on line 4

Error: Installation failed:D:\I386\asms. Error message: A
component's file does not match the verification
information present in the component manifest.

etc, etc.

Does this mean my CD is corrupted or is there a more
sinister meaning to the message?

All help gratefully received.

Your particular error message is indicative of a bad
CD burn and /or a corrupt file image. To correct
the problem, use an authentic, original, Microsoft Windows
XP installation CD. If that's what you have, then get a
replacement.
