I need to clean off the hard drive and reinstall all
programs, including win2000. What is the easiest way to
do this? Was suggested that I use format c:, but not sure
if this is the best way to proceed. Suggestions?

Just run the W2k install from the CD. Early on it will let you
delete/create/format partitions on the drive, and select which to
install into when you have done that. You cannot format the system/boot
partition from within the system.

You're not going to make the whole drive one big C: partition, are you?
Bad idea. Make at least one other partition for your data, so you don't
lose it if you have to format C: again... Make the system partition
something like 6GB, too. Bigger if you have an unusually large number of
applications.
