Prior to Windows XP (meaning up to Windows 2K) you had the option of
not using wallpaper (you still have that option in XP) but selecting a
pattern for your desktop such as 50%, Scottie, Quilt, etc. but this
option / feature is missing in XP; how do I access it or get it to
work in XP ?

That feature (patterns) is no longer supported in Windows XP.

That there aren't any pattern-type images available by default doesn't mean
you can't align images that way anymore.

So get hold of the pattern you want to use -- I'm not sure because I always
deleted them, but they might have been .BMPs -- and use the "browse" button
to load it like you would any other background image.

Then justify/align this background image "the pattern way", using the drop-
down list between the "browse" and "color" buttons. That should do the
trick.
