Boot up problem

HI Readers!

I have 10 gb parti C: & 10 gb part on D:, E: is 10 gb
misc & rest 50 gb is free space.

C: win 2k adv server & d: win XP prof.
I reinstalled win 2k adv server yesterday, since then d:
xp doesn't boot up. I feel the files required by win xp to
boot up have been been over written.
I get the follwing warning: Windows 2k could not start
because the followingfile is missing or corrupt
\windows\system32\config\systemd Start up options for
windows 2k , press F8, you can attempt to repair this file
by starting win 2k set up using the original set up floppy
disks or CD-Rom.Select R at the first screen to start
repair.

where as my win 2k server boots up normally , then why
does the warning says windows 2k could not start.
I tried it booting from win xp cd & chose R to repair,
which opened the recovery console !

Can someone tell me now which files should i repair/add &
how????

I have also installed recovery console from win2 k server
cd rom, the option of which is visible at start up options
as follows:
windows 2 k server
windows xp
recoverx console

Could anyone tell me how di i boot into xp, as it is very
imp for me to have access to some files.

Pls reply in details as i am new in IT

A 80-gig harddrive shoud have been partitioned into two
drives, C and D not the scatter setup you have. Use C
drive for WindowsXP and peripherals and D for photos,
music and misc. Recommend you repartition it, but that
is your choice.

I will reset the partitions as advised, but ap present my
problem is to recover from win XP start up problem!
Pls help!
