class installer refuses install

i recently bought a boeder cross check digital joystick, i installer the
software which accompanied it, shutdown the pc and tried to add it in the
add controllers partt of the control panel.only it did not show, when i
clicked on the add hardware button i found the hardware but when i tried to
install it i got the following error message "the class installer has refused
your request to install or upgrade the specified device" i will really
appreciate some help in this matter

You messed it up from the start. All you had to do was plug it in and boot
your PC. WindowsXP's plug&play feature would tell you that new hardware was
found and ask you if you want to install it. Answer Yes, and it will either
install or ask you to insert the installation disk for the drivers.

the joystick is a gameport joystick and i noticed it is not plug and play cos
that was the first thing i checked.Any other suggestions?

Did you try what I suggested? The gameport is also activated/checked at
boot time by the BIOS. Anything attached will alert the setup. Check the
following: Rightclick My Computer>Properties>Hardware tab>Device Manager
Now Click Sound, Video and game controllers
