Choppy audio

I have 2 DVD drives. One is a internal DVD player and the other is a
external DVD burner. The audio was fine on the internal player until I
hooked up the external DVD burner. Now when I try to play a DVD on the
internal DVD drive the audio sounds choppy. What can I do to correct this?
