Choppppy sound on WMP 9

hello

I need help on WMP9. I tried playing my VCD on WMP 9 and
the audio is very choppy! The Cd is very clean and I have
the latest display drivers. I don't think there is a
problem with my audio driver because videos saved on my
documents folder don't sound choppy or anything. My guess
is that there is something wrong with XP, cause I tried
playing the VCD on win98 with WMP7 or Xing and the movie
ran very smoothly without any disturbances. please help.

Thank you for your time

Have you checked and compared the codec versions being
used on the 98 machine compared to XP?

I know XP should have the most current codecs required,
but that doesn't always equate to highest performance.

You may want to try installing the (assumed) older codec
from the 98 machine into XP.

Aside from that, we'd need your full system specs to give
further suggestions.

Hope this helps,
