chkdsk stuck

recently ran chkdsk and it won't proceed beyond the end of stage 1

Appreciate any help/ideas?

Which switch(es) have you tried running chkdsk with & have you tried running
chkdsk in safe Mode?

yeh,

you can also run it
at the dos prompt
via the recovery console
option provided with
your windows setup cd.

recently ran chkdsk and it won't proceed beyond the end of stage 1
