Chkdsk problem

N

Nate

I seem to be having a strange problem with Chkdsk. Using XP Pro
with NTFS, if I open up the DOS prompt, I do a CHKDSK /V on my drive C
and it says, after verifying security descriptors, that it was
correcting errors in the master file table's BITMAP attribute and
discovered free space marked as allocated. It says to do a CHKDSK /F to
fix the problems. Then, if I do that, of course, it says that it has to
do a Chkdsk at the next system startup to fix the problems. So, I agree
to that, reboot, and watch it run the check again only to see that no
problems come up this time. What's going on here? I'd like for it to
find the problems so that they can be fixed. Every time I run Chkdsk
from a DOS shell, it reports the SAME problems. Does anyone have any
ideas of how I can get these fixed? I'd appreciate any help. Thank you.
