chkdsk problem -- index entries

[HFH]

Last time i scanned my HD (NTFS), there was a big line of index
entries deleted from file $9, saying something about repeated entries.
I switched it off at once and restarted it.
When I logged into windows, it popped up that my recycle bin was
corrupted. A few files was lost.

The next day, I let it go on. The numbers went up, and the screen
flashed. I waited for a ten minutes, and still flashing. I switched
it off. After restarting, my boot sector was empty. HD half empty.

why????????

Usually hardware failure or possibly file system corruption. Use the
manufacturer's diagnostic tools to test. I'd start with the disk drive,
drive controller and memory.

Why? Because you kept "switching it off"! That's why! DON'T DO THAT!
Sheesh!

because chkdsk works
with the master file table (mft).

if that table got corrupted then
the files on the disk are not
registered in the mft.

i would suggest that you
boot with a windows cd
and go to recovery console.

at the c prompt run your chkdsk

was empty.]

Windows was working before i started chkdsk. My old pc (hand made) was
like this before it died. The new one, acer, happened like this, but
instead I switched it off before it had finished doing $9.

It doesn't matter that i switched it off, or else it would have been
erased. Why does chkdsk "erase" stuff instead of "check" stuff? Is
it just that I have "magic touch"????

I told other people to try, but they didn't get the same results.??????

If you continue to "switch your computer off immediately" whenever you
observe something you don't understand, I can guarantee that you will
destroy the file system, sooner or later. "Switching off" went out with DOS.
I suspect this "switching off" technique is exactly why you were having this
problem to begin with.

3 times of viruses/ malware.
2 died because i did that.

but why?
it got nothing to do with shutting it down, if i left it on, it will
do more destroy.
i don't shut down with the plug; i pulled it only those 2 times. And,
chkdsk was destroying data. I do it. The first time, some files
missing. The second? Boot sector empty. I was lucky to kill it the
first time and the third on my new one.

I need to avoid any chkdsks now.
But, chkdsk works on my FAT32. Why? When is WINFS coming? When is
XP supporting it? Oh god! I don't want hibernate disabled just because
when using NTFS i can't use chkdsk!!!


can someone good give me a solution?

Has this got something to do with "explorer application errors?" or
"ashampoo anti-spyware update download crashing application errors?"
