chicken run

Debbie

My son has tried to install chicken run on his xp machine - new,
latest drivers all updated, dx9a. It appeared to install OK but
won't run - all we get is a splash screen. Where should I start
looking for problems - or is it one of those games that won't run
under xp?

Hi Debbie,

Well the software developers seem to have washed their hands
of any attempt to make their product forward compatible as per:
http://www.eidosinteractive.co.uk/support/faqinfo.html?fqid=159&gmid=95
however...

When a game is a DOS game, it could work using compatibility mode:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=292533 or by using the Multiboot
bootdisk from: http://members.ozemail.com.au/~lpcd/downloads.html .

If you prefer to explore more advanced methods, here are two of the best
tutorials I've found on the subject: http://www.dosgames.com/xphints.php
and: http://home.earthlink.net/~angeldancer27/XpGameList.htm :)

Sorry - I wasn't ignoring you. Longer than usual hours at work and
preparing to decamp to the wilds for the annual break means I haven't
been anywhere near the puters to try it out yet, and I usually try to
report back the outcome.

But your advice has been archived for the next spare minute...and I am
grateful for it.
