'Checkdisk' problems....

Help! I'm having trouble with 'checkdisk'. Every time I boot up my computer,
this message appears - "One of your disks needs to be checked for
consistency. It is strongly recommended that you continue". The trouble
started a couple of days ago when I went to play Zoo Tycoon 2 on my computer,
and the shortcut seemed to be missing. (It played fine the previous day). I
ended up going into 'Add/Remove Programs' to uninstall it, but it said the
game was already uninstalled. (I hadn't uninstalled it) Then I tried to
reinstall it, but I kept getting error messages saying that files were still
on my computer. I followed the troubleshooting guide on Microsoft, and one of
recommendations was to run a checkdisk on the computer, which I did. And
that's where the trouble started. I ran checkdisk the first time, and a whole
slew of messages came up (deleting corrupt files, recovering files, etc...).
But now, EVERY time I boot up the computer, it wants to run checkdisk.
Why?????! I'm starting to get freaked out because I read another post about
checkdisk and somebody said that the harddisk might be failing. BTW, after I
ran checkdisk the first time, I was able to reinstall Zoo Tycoon with no
problems. Other than this, the computer seems to be running fine. My
operating system is Windows XP Media Centre 2002. If anybody can offer some
advice, it would be most appreciated! Thanks!

Per your say, after installing the game, I advise you to the following:
1-- Run the Diagnostic tool for your Hard drive by downloading it from the
HDD manufacturer website for your HDD specs.
2-- I think your Video card it bad, try to acccess the BIOS and set the
Dispaly for VGA display, you can test if this happen if you start in safe
Mode, also try to update or uninstall/reinstall the Video Driver
Last but not least check your system clean from malware/viruses by scanning.

Look in the event viewer for error messages, did you tried System restore?.
HTH.

If you have run chkdsk with the /f option to fix errors on your system
drive Windows may need to run the program on your next boot to finish up
its work. Have you let it run? Unless there are severe problems this
should be a one-time occurrence and you won't be prompted again.
